After studying environmental biology and organic agriculture at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Alexandra specialised in biological pest control during her graduate studies at the University of Bonn in Germany. She has a very broad background in tropical and organic agriculture. She later worked as plantain agronomist at IITA in Nigeria, as lecturer and research assistant at the Faculty of Organic Agricultural Sciences, University of Kassel and most recently as a freelance agricultural consultant, editor, reviewer and translator. At SRS she works in the Certification Department as an Certification Officer and as Coordinator for Africa
