On April 22, the Administrative Committee Office of Yangling Demonstration Zone, China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "Yangling Free Trade Office") paid a visit to Shiying Certification (hereinafter referred to as "SRS") and held a special symposium. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the theme of "boosting the development of national agricultural-related enterprises through standardized services", and reached a preliminary intent on future cooperation. Zhang Jian, Director of Yangling Free Trade Office, Guo Peng, Section Chief of the Investment Service Section, together with Ge Kai, Chairman of SRS, and Jiang Xiaoni, General Manager of SRS, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Director Zhang Jian stated that as the country’s only agriculture-themed free trade zone, Yangling shoulders the important mission of aligning China’s agricultural standards with international norms and supporting domestic agricultural-related enterprises in "going global".

He emphasized that standards should guide the export-oriented development of agricultural enterprises. Rooted in Yangling and radiating across the nation, a new development path with exemplary significance will be forged.

Director Zhang Jian further pointed out that Yangling Agri-Tech, a nationally high-value regional brand, will advance in coordination with the regional standard SCO Premium Products. By establishing experimental stations and fostering leading pilot enterprises, tangible implementation of standards will be advanced to deliver substantial benefits for enterprises.

At the meeting, Ge Kai, Chairman of SRS, introduced the institution’s development orientation, noting that it is highly aligned with the organic and sustainable development strategy of the Free Trade Zone. He pointed out that standard certification is not the end, but the starting point for enterprises to build international competitiveness.

In view of prominent challenges currently faced by agricultural-related enterprises, including difficulties in integrating Chinese and international standards, as well as insufficient awareness and recognition of standardization among enterprises, Chairman Ge Kai stated that SRS will cooperate with the Free Trade Office to leverage the government’s overall coordination capacity. Starting from policy guidance, institutional provision and resource docking, the two sides will help enterprises break through "standard barriers".

Both sides reached a consensus that taking standardization as the link to drive Chinese agricultural-related enterprises to achieve a leap from "product export" to "standard globalization" serves as their core strategic direction.

Following full consultations, the two sides have reached a preliminary intention on the following areas of cooperation:

  • Jointly establish a standard empowerment pilot mechanism: Select qualified agricultural-related enterprises within the Yangling Free Trade Zone to carry out pilot programs integrating certification and comprehensive empowerment services.
  • Explore the dual-brand development model of "Yangling Agri-Tech + International Certification": Leverage SRS’s international expertise in sustainable agriculture, organic certification and other fields to enhance the global recognition of the "Yangling Agri-Tech" brand.
  • Establish a regular communication mechanism: The two parties shall regularly align enterprise demands, policy updates and standard revisions to ensure efficient and effective implementation of cooperation.

This symposium marks a substantive step taken jointly by the Yangling Free Trade Office and SRS to advance the development of national agricultural-related enterprises through standardized services. Both parties stated that they will accelerate the implementation of follow-up work to provide strong support for Chinese agricultural enterprises in accessing the global market.
